MOLLE Placard FAQs
What is MOLLE?
MOLLE stands for Modular Lightweight Load-carrying Equipment. It is a military system for attaching equipment, pouches, and accessories to tactical backpacks, vests, and plate carriers. MOLLE was developed in the late 1990s as a replacement for the ALICE (All-purpose Lightweight Individual Carrying Equipment) system, which has been in use since the Vietnam War era. It has three primary advantages which have kept it on the cutting edge for over 30 years.
- MODULARITY - With MOLLE, individual parts can be moved and replaced with ease, making it flexible for various tasks and operations. This modularity also allows for customizability, as users can choose which pouches or accessories to attach and where.
- DURABILITY - Its nylon webbing is durable and able to withstand extreme conditions such as rain, heat, and cold. Additionally, since MOLLE is widely used by the military, there are a variety of pouches and accessories available in the market to cater for different equipment configurations.
- TACTICAL EFFECTIVENESS - It enables soldiers to carry more gear while keeping it accessible, which can be crucial in combat situations. MOLLE also enables quick reconfiguration of gear which allows quick adaptability to changing situations.
In summary, MOLLE is an advanced modular system with a high degree of flexibility and durability, making it an ideal choice for a wide range of missions and activities.
How does MOLLE work?
MOLLE works by using a grid of nylon webbing that is sewn onto the surface of the backpack, vest, or plate carrier. This webbing allows for multiple attachment points for various pouches and accessories. The pouches and accessories themselves have straps on the back that are woven through the webbing on the surface of the MOLLE gear, allowing for secure attachment.
